Parish Survey on Disability, Inclusion, and Belonging

Parish Survey on Disability, Inclusion, and Belonging

At St. Jude’s, we believe every person bears the image of God and brings gifts that strengthen our common life. As we continue growing into a community where all belong, we are taking time to listen more deeply to the experiences of parishioners who live with disabilities, chronic illness, neurodivergence, sensory differences, or mobility challenges, as well as those who care for or accompany someone who does.

This survey is part of a diocesan pilot project that I have been asked to lead, exploring how parishes across the Diocese of Niagara can better understand and respond to the lived experience of disability in their communities. St. Jude’s is the first parish participating in this trial, and your insight will help shape not only our own next steps but also the wider diocesan learning that will follow.

The survey will take approximately twenty minutes to complete. It will be helpful if you answer the questions as fully as you can, however, you may answer as much or as little as you wish. All responses are confidential unless you choose to identify yourself. What matters most is we hear your perspective—your lived experience, your hopes, and the ways you imagine St. Jude’s becoming an even more compassionate and accessible place of belonging for all.

If you have difficulty with the online survey format, a paper version is available from the church office. You may also request assistance completing the survey by contacting staff at the church office.

Thank you for taking the time to share. Your voice will guide both our parish and the diocese as we seek to embody Christ’s welcome with greater attentiveness, humility, and joy.

Would You Like to Help St. Jude’s Pantry Program?

We’re looking for a few additional volunteers to help deliver frozen meals, soups, and desserts to local social service agencies in Oakville, Burlington, and Hamilton.

Deliveries are typically made on Fridays and take about 3 hours. With more volunteers in the rotation, you would likely be scheduled just once or twice a month. Some lifting is involved, and help is always available for heavier items.

If you'd like to learn more or join us on a Friday to see what it's like, please contact Blair Richardson at blair.richardson@sympatico.ca

Thank you for considering this rewarding opportunity to support our community!

New Indigenous Gathering Space to Open in Oakville

New Indigenous Gathering Space to Open in Oakville

Rector's Letter of Invitation

Our Rector, Canon David Anderson, has written a letter to the parish describing an opportunity to support a significant action towards Truth and Reconciliation in our community. For some years our parish has been privileged  to participate in the Debwewin Ally Leadership Council, Out of the council's work and conversation with leaders of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, a vision for an Indigenous Gathering Space on their traditional lands in Treaty 22 territory here in Oakville.

The vision is becoming a reality and a dedicated Indigenous gathering space is expected to formally open for community use at Oakville’s Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) in June.

In his letter, Canon David invites us to continue our participation in the important work of Truth and Reconciliation by supporting this exciting project.
