Worship Ministry Teams
Altar Guild ▶ Prepares the sanctuary, altar, vestments, and sacred vessels for worship services. They ensure the church is prepared for services, weddings, and funerals by cleaning, arranging flowers, and maintaining linens.
Bell Ringer ▶ Operate the large, swinging bells using ropes in the church tower, usually for Sunday services or special occasions. Training required.
Children's Church Volunteer ▶ Volunteers work closely with church staff to provide care and assistance during class time. Suitable for highschool students looking for volunteer hours.
Greeters ▶ The crucial first point of contact, shaping visitor impressions and fostering a welcoming atmosphere through proactive, warm, and natural interactions.
Hospitality Team ▶ Hosts fellowship after services, involving setting up, preparing beverages (coffee/tea), providing light snacks, and cleaning up.
Live Streaming Team ▶ The live streaming team connects worshippers via YouTube using cameras, encoders, and streaming software. Training is available.
Readers & Intercessors ▶ Parishioners who read Bible lessons, the Psalm, or Prayers of the People for the world, church, and community during services on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Server's Guild ▶ Assist the clergy in conducting worship services through various roles, such as carrying the cross candles, or gospel book, and helping during the sacrament of the eucharist.
Food Ministry Teams
Dinner at Your Door (Frozen Meal Delivery) ▶ Teams of two deliver frozen meals made by the Pantry Program local clients in need that have been identified by one of our community care partner organizations. ***Vulnerable Sector Check required.
Grocery Delivery Program ▶ Fresh grocery bags prepared by our partners at Food4Life are delivered to local families in need. ***Vulnerable Sector Check required.
Pantry Program ▶ Weekly cooking teams meet at St. Jude's to prepare and freeze meals that are delivered by other volunteer teams to our partner organizations and neighbours dealing with food insecurity.
Administrative Support Teams
Donation Counters ▶ Once a month, join the church office staff on Monday morning to count the weekly donations given by parishioners.
Community Outreach Teams
Lay Pastoral Visitors ▶ Trained volunteers provide spiritual and emotional support to homebound or hospitalized parishioners. ** Trained and organized by clergy
Gardening Teams
Garden Guild ▶ Volunteers meet mostly on Thursday mornings, or afternoons, according to the season, for the work of maintaining the beautiful gardens around St. Jude's.
Lyon's Lane Veggie Patch ▶ Volunteers meet on Tuesday mornings (starting at the beginning of May) for about 2 ½ hours, to ‘work’ the plots located in the Lyon's Lane Community Gardens; then harvest vegetables that are taken to the Kerr Street Mission food bank.
Special Events Volunteers
Rummage Sale & Christmas Bazaar ▶ Twice a year, help organize, price, and sell donations provided by our community members to raise money for outreach programs that support those in need in our community.
Social Committee ▶ Help plan and execute social events throughout the year the help fundraise for St. Jude's.
