Each year St Jude’s hosts a Spring and Fall rummage sale followed up by a Christmas bazaar at the end of the year. These events have become an integral part of community life at St Jude’s bringing together people from all parts of the congregation in fellowship and harmony. Volunteers are enlisted from across the entire congregation, no experience necessary, just a willingness to pitch in and have fun.
The event is open to all. You do not need to volunteer for the whole event, and your gift of time is important.
These events not only bring us together as a community, but are also our way of protecting our planet by providing a fun way of recycling those items that we no longer have a use for. Nothing goes to waste and even the leftovers go to other organizations that have an immediate use for them.
All proceeds from these sales are given back into the community at the end of the year. Funds raised have supported agencies and partners such as The Fareshare Foodbank, Ian Anderson House, and St. Mathew's House intercity ministry in Hamilton. Some of the organizations that have received gifts in kind include The Migrant Worker Program in Niagara, the Salvation Army Thrift Store, Goodwill and the Oakville Humane Society.
All are welcome to participate whether it involves working at the set up and the sale, donating or coming out to purchase a few treasures, whatever you can manage.
Feel free to contact the church office if you would like more information. Dates and times for the sale will be posted on the website calendar, in the community and in the church announcements, in the weeks leading up to the date. We look forward to having you join us.
