Gloria in excelsis Deo is one of the Church’s most ancient hymns of praise, beginning with the angelic proclamation at Christ’s birth:
“Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth...” (Luke 2:14)
This Sunday, we joyfully welcome back The Gloria Singers as we continue to celebrate the Season of Creation - a time to reflect on the beauty of the natural world and our responsibility to care for it.
Our anthem this Sunday is John Rutter’s beloved Look at the World. Composed in 1996 for the 75th anniversary of the Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE), Rutter’s anthem is a lyrical meditation on the wonder of creation, gratitude for the world around us, and a gentle call to stewardship. It was first performed at a thanksgiving service in Westminster Abbey and has since become a cherished piece in both liturgical and community settings.
I invite you to explore our upcoming services, where The Gloria Singers will continue to offer their gifts of music, alongside rich congregational singing.
