St. Jude's has prepared a new Mission Action Plan (MAP) to guide our ministry over the next two to three years. We spent time earlier this year gathering ideas in three parish consultations around the topics of:
At a fourth meeting, parishioners set a number of priorities for action, and participants agreed to attend at least one more meeting where these priorties would be further fleshed out.
The first of these meetings have now been organized and any others who are interested are welcome to join the conversation.
One of the top priorities identified at our meetings was about creating opportunties for building a greater sense of community among us through such activities as 'social events.' The discussion group on this topic is meeting on Thursday, October 31, at 10 AM in the Helen Poole Memorial Library. All are welcome to come along with their ideas. While we hope that some who attend the meeting will be interested in helping move the ideas forward, your attendance will not imply a committment on your part.
Another priority involves the welcome of newcomers and returning parishoners. This discussion group will be meeting on November 19 at 2 PM in the Helen Poole Memorial Library. Again, all are welcome to attend and to share their ideas without making a future commitment.
The MAP process also generated many ideas about a variety of Learning Groups. We are in the process of planning for a meeting of those who have expressed interest in further discussion on this topic. Stay tuned for more information about this meeting.
Several other priority actions were identified in the MAP process. These include topics such as:
We have already taken staff and volunteer-driven action on several of these items, including the new parish website and weekly e-mail system, Further discussion and development around these topics will happen as we continue to move forward with our MAP.
Many thanks to all who have been involved. Please consider how you can help us move our plans forward.
