Anyone visiting the church early on Wednesday and Thursday evenings might be surprised to hear the excited voices of youth coming from the St. Jude’s kitchen. These students, who are part of the Kindness Kitchen program at Appleby College, are helping St. Jude's Pantry Program and Food4Life combat food waste by cleaning, prepping, and freezing the large volume of fresh produce that is delivered to us each week.

All of the students have taken Food Safety Certification classes and are eager to put their new-found skills to work. In just a few short weeks, the students have helped us save huge quantities of ginger, Brussel sprouts, and butternut squash that has been used in the frozen meals that our cooking teams produce each week.

In conjunction with this program, the students are currently holding a Freezer Bag Drive at their school. Families have been encouraged to pick up an extra box of large ziplock bags to donate to the Kindness Kitchen when they are out at the grocery store.
