The Reverend Canon Dr. David J. Anderson is the Rector of St. Jude's.
David is married to Kathryn and they have two adult children, Fiona and Kaelynn. David and Kathryn live in Hamilton.
David completed his doctoral degree at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, in the area of Congregational Leadership and Mission. His thesis was entitled: Transforming Communities and Creating Disciples of Jesus through Practices of Neighbourliness: Apprenticeship in the Ways of Parish Life for the Twenty-first Century. His research used a Participative Action Research Methodology and mixed methods of quantitative and qualitative research and a number of interventions conducted at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Hamilton.
David loves the work of being a parish priest having served the church in pastoral ministry for more than forty years. Prior to coming to St. Jude's, David was for sixteen years the Rector of the Church of St. John the Evangelist in west downtown Hamilton. For several years during that period he also served as the Archdeacon of Undermount and then as the Archdeacon of Hamilton-Haldimand. Before that, David was the Rector of All Saints' Ridgeway, and St. John's Ridgemount, in the Town of Fort Erie (or as David sometimes describes it, "suburban Buffalo"). Before coming to the Diocese of Niagara, David served for twelve years in various roles at Good Shepherd Community Church in Scarborough. David began his life in pastoral ministry in 1984 with five years of service in a small rural two-point charge of the United Church of Canada's Niagara Presbytery.
His current research interests include Missional Theology, evangelism, Christian practices, and Disability Theology.
