Every other Thursday morning, visitors to St. Jude's Church are greeted to the smell of the incredible meals that are being created by the Pantry Program volunteers. Now, with the help of the students and staff at White Oaks Secondary School, this program has doubled its capacity to help feed vulnerable people living in our community.
White Oaks SS students in the culinary program have been helping make weekly meals for St. Jude's Church in Oakville, and are distributed to feed those in need in the local community. Since starting this initiative two years ago, the schools has made more than 1,500 meals - averaging around 130 meals per week - complete with a meat product, potatoes and vegetables.
The church obtains food products donated from grocery stores in the area and brings them to WOSS, where students turn the foodstuffs into completed meals.
