Elizabeth Chalmers (Justice and Servant Ministries’ Committee Chair), Nancy Coombs (St. Jude’s representative, Debwewin Oakville Ally Leadership Council), and the Rev. Dr. Canon David Anderson with Former MCFN Chief R. Stacey Laforme on June 27th, 2024. The special event in his honour, sponsored by Oakville Public Library and the Oakville Community Foundation, was hosted by the Glen Abbey Branch. Former MCFN Chief Laforme read his poems including several from his new book, Love, Life, Loss and a Little Bit of Hope, conveying that poetry and storytelling can reveal hard truths while inspiring and connecting. It is an important way, he believes, to build a foundation of respect and trust. He also talked about the newly launched OCF Sacred Trust Foundation, raising consciousness and helping the vulnerable in communities. St. Jude’s attendees, along with other Oakville community partners, were pleased to have the chance to gather, working together towards peace, understanding and partnerships with each other and the MCFN community.
