This November marks the 150th Synod of the Diocese of Niagara. To celebrate, Bishop Susan is hosting a special anniversary dinner at the Burlington Convention Centre.

“Our sesquicentennial Synod is an opportunity to reflect on the collective faithfulness of generations of Anglicans in Niagara; it’s a long obedience in the same Gospel direction,” said Bishop Bell. “We give thanks to God for her provision over the years at the same time as we look forward to the next 150 years with hope and optimism.”

The event takes place November 2, 2024, with a reception beginning at 5 PM ahead of dinner at 6:30 PM. As part of the festivities, Bishop Susan will share a featured conversation with her special guest, Archbishop Linda Nicholls, the fourteenth primate for the Anglican Church of Canada. This engaging conversation is sure to be reflective and discerning, as they explore the Synod theme 'Faith in the Future'. Jeremiah 29:11 inspires this discussion and its theme “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”

All are welcome as we gather people from all corners of the diocese together for this jubilant celebration! Tickets for the evening are $150 per person and all proceeds from the dinner will go to a special anniversary fund created by our diocesan foundation in support of curacy placements for newly ordained clergy. A portion of the ticket price will be eligible for a tax receipt.

Our synod delegates, Rector, and Assistant curate are already planning to attend and we would love to expand our table of four to at least a table of eight. Some may have already registered to attend. If you would like to join our St. Jude's table, please be in touch with the Rector.
