Celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the Grocery Program
On Sunday September 13th, 2026, St Jude’s celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Grocery Program. Current and former volunteers gathered to share fellowship and a light meal. Our rector, David Anderson, spoke to the importance of the program in delivering on our parish’s mission in the community. George Duross, the current coordinator of the program delivered some boring statistics and explained how the volunteers were more than delivery agents but God’s ambassadors to the community. Karen Bonham, formerly with Food For life our food partner, spoke to the original impetus for starting the program in 2011. Lori Brading, a senior representative at Food For Life, reaffirmed the statistics and shared kind feedback that she had received from our clients. Sophia Makridis, representing Halton Community Housing Corporation, spoke to how well received and important the program was to the community. She also gave brief update regarding current construction project in the neighbourhood which will provide the program with a space from which to operate a Market Style program to better serve our clients.
