Produced by Anglican Video, with support from the Anglican Foundation and General Synod, the documentary describes the history: beliefs and a legal framework that justified European colonization of the Americas. The Doctrine asserted that Indigenous territory was “terra nullius” or the property of no one. By depicting how the Doctrine informed centuries of racist practices, the film helps create an awareness that is foundational to healing and reconciliation.

Following the screening, there will be a discussion, led by Archdeacon Val Kerr, Archdeacon for Truth, Reconciliation and Indigenous Ministry, Diocese of Niagara
With input from
Deirdre Pike, Diocesan Program Consultant for Social justice and Outreach
Elijah Williams, Manager, Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support, Sheridan College
Wendy Rinella, Executive Director, Oakville Community Foundation and Oakville Partnership on Truth & Reconciliation
There is no cost to attend
